An octave-spanning mid-infrared frequency comb generated in a silicon nanophotonic wire waveguide
Laser frequency combs, sources with a spectrum consisting of hundred thousands evenly spaced narrow lines, have an exhilarating potential for new approaches to molecular spectroscopy and sensing in the mid-infrared region. The generation of such broadband coherent sources is presently under active exploration. Technical challenges have slowed down such developments. Identifying a versatile high...
متن کاملMid-infrared dual frequency comb spectroscopy based on fiber lasers for the detection of methane in ambient air
We utilize mid-infrared dual frequency comb spectroscopy for the detection of methane in ambient air. Two mid-infrared frequency comb sources based on femtosecond Er:fiber oscillators are produced through difference frequency generation with periodically poled MgO-doped lithium niobate crystals and stabilized at slightly different repetition rates at about 250 MHz. We performed dual frequency c...
متن کاملMid-infrared dual-comb spectroscopy with an optical parametric oscillator.
We present the first implementation of mid-infrared dual-comb spectroscopy with an optical parametric oscillator. Methane absorption spectroscopy was demonstrated with a resolution of 0.2 cm(-1) (5 GHz) at an acquisition time of ~10.4 ms over a spectral coverage at 2900-3050 cm(-1). The average power from each individual mid-infrared comb line was ~1 μW, representing a power level much greater ...

متن کاملNonlinear Group IV photonics based on silicon and germanium: from near-infrared to mid-infrared
Group IV photonics hold great potential for nonlinear applications in the nearand mid-infrared (IR) wavelength ranges, exhibiting strong nonlinearities in bulk materials, high index contrast, CMOS compatibility, and cost-effectiveness. In this paper, we review our recent numerical work on various types of silicon and germanium waveguides for octave-spanning ultrafast nonlinear applications. We ...
